The rebirth of my original MAME project will be a stripped down version of the original with single player controls (8-way joystick, 6 player buttons, original Tempest spinner, and some admin stuff.) It will be powered by a Raspberry Pi 5, and will use the same 24″ LG IPS display (1920×1080 16:9) that is in the PETE’S Arcade.

We have an original marquee, glass retainers (and metal screen), control panel, and marquee light and speaker ‘drawer’. Our intention is to build a replica of an actual Tempest cab.
Planned Components:
- Powered by Raspberry Pi 5, 2.4Ghz 64-bit quad-core CPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB EVO+ Micro SD Card, Black case w/ fan and heat sink
- Ultimarc I-PAC2, 32 inputs plus trackball and spinner to USB
- Ultimarc PAC Drive, 16 outputs for LEDs to light the player buttons
- Suzo Happ Concave Pushbuttons in Orange
- Original Cone Buttons for 1 and 2 player select
- Ultimarc J-Stik 4/8-way Joystick w/ a modified Atari stick
- Original Tempest Spinner with USB Opto Reader upgrade and oil brass bushings
- Suzo Happ 110W Power Supply
- Cabinet Mount Dual USB 3.0 Port
- (2) LED Light Strips for Marquee light
- The Marquee is an original marquee frame from a Tempest machine, refinished, new glass, sandblasted and powder coated screen, with custom vinyl overlay from Scott at Game On Grafix
- And T-Molding (from T-molding.com)
- The audio output from the computer will go through a Stereo to Mono Converter
- Then through a 50K Logarithmic Taper Rotary Potentiometer for volume control with a KAISH knob
- Then to a KEMO 40W Audio Power Amplifier, mounted on a Heat Sink
- Then to the original 6 x 9 speaker from a Tempest machine wired in parallel with an 8 ohm Wirewound Resistor to create a 4 ohm load on the amplifier
- Video will be displayed on an LG 27.6″ DualUp display with an aspect ratio of 18:16 (mounted horizontally) giving us 20.6″ x 18.3″ of display.
- 18AWG Barrel Plug Connectors (for 12VDC and 5VDC power)
- We like solid core Birch Plywood (0.6875″, called 3/4″,for this one)
- Which we cut on a 4×8 bed ShopSABRE PRO 408 CNC Router
- Underneath are Leveler Feet and 3″ Rubber Caster Wheels
- Plus Handholds at the back top and the front underneath
- Side and front panel graphics and CP overlay printing is by our friend Scott at Game On Grafix
- Glass for the display comes from One Day Glass (Light Grey, Tempered, 0.25″ glass)
- The coin door is an original from a Tempest cab and was stripped, powder coated, and rewired.
